Determining the characteristics of well-written News

In his news article, “Obama will seek to lift order against immigrationplan,” David Jackson writes what we could call a well-written news story. I believe he is effective in his writing because of the overall clearness of his writing style. The article has a clear title and a well-written lead. The overall layout it’s simple and does not stray from the main point.
Jackson also manages to keep short sentences and paragraphs while still displaying all the important information. Moreover, he makes good use of quotations by giving them an appropriate attribution and a proper punctuation. In this way, he remains faithful to AP style throughout his entire news story.

In conclusion David Jackson’s news article is effective because of his clear way of writing and good use of AP style. Sometimes news not written in this way can be difficult to digest. For example, “The Apple Car” by Joseph Pagliery, follows a much more relaxed and disorganized way of writing. His use of too many pictures throughout his article is distracting and easily makes the reader to stray away from the main topic. This shows that we always have to keep in mind to deliver news in an objective, effective and faithful way.
